This month the theme was outsourcing. We went over what to outsource when you’re just starting out, 3 ways to outsource your customer service, and how to outsource your social media the right way. This week we will simply focus on outsourcing to a virtual assistant – why, who, how, and what.
You may be surprised at what virtual assistants can do for your business and all the ways they can take things off your plate. If you think there are areas that you cannot possibly outsource, you may be surprised.
In fact, there are only three areas that I recommend you shouldn’t delegate:
The main one is your marketing strategy. You need to be in charge of your long-term goals and the measures you take to achieve them. It all needs to be thought out by you.
Relationship building also can’t be done by machines. With social media and other online marketing channels, it’s as important as ever to be real with your customers. Automated responses and replies are off-putting.
Fundamentally, content creation should not be automated. It needs to be fresh and original. The same goes for content curation. There are software programs that find content for you but you should always look at the content yourself before sharing with your readers to make sure it’s relevant to them.
Everything else is on the table. Watch the video and don’t forget to sign up for the free bonus download, you’ll get a ton of ideas!
This month the theme was outsourcing. We went over what to outsource when you’re just starting out, 3 ways to outsource your customer service, and what to think about when outsourcing your social media. This week we will simply focus on outsourcing to a virtual assistant. I make reference to virtual assistants a lot, and most of you will be familiar with the term. But if you’re not familiar, a virtual assistant is an independent contractor who works from a remote location and supports multiple clients in a variety of industries by providing administrative, creative, and tech services.
The top 8 reasons why someone would partner with a virtual assistant. (We prefer the term “partner” instead of “hire” but it’s the same thing.)
* Build a Better Business – Even if you’re a single person working at your kitchen table, with the right team of outsourcers you can become as efficient as a big business. What’s more, you can sleep great at night by sending all your little tasks to a general VA before you go to bed, and then watch them get done without you giving it another thought in the next 24 to 48 hours.
* Take Out the Emotions – When you outsource certain things like customer service and email management, it will help you remove the emotional component of these issues. You can get someone else to handle that so that you just only hear the good things.
* Get Better Results – When you have an expert take over something, you’ll get better results. For example, if you hire an expert to do social media marketing for you, you’ll start seeing your business grow seemingly by magic.
* You Can Build Your Business Bigger – When you outsource strategically, you can build your business bigger than you thought possible. You can start being the CEO of your business instead of another worker in your business.
* It’s Not Your Expertise – If you’re not well-trained in doing something, it may take you hours to do when compared with an expert. For example, maybe you can make graphics on Canva.com but each one takes you an hour, whereas an expert can make five graphics during that time. Is it really worth it to do it yourself in that case?
* Let Go of Stress – Oftentimes you will find yourself very stressed out when it’s time to do certain aspects of your business. That might be bookkeeping or even cleaning the house. When you feel that stress – let it go and outsource it.
* You’ll Earn More – It may seem crazy that if you spend money on outsourcing you’ll ultimately earn more money, but it’s true. Think of it this way; if you can make $150 an hour with your main thing, why would you spend any time whatever doing any task that you can outsource for half that or less?
* Time and Freedom – This is the number one reason to outsource more. You need more time and freedom to do things you love, like be with your family, exercise, travel, and do things with your family that makes memories for a lifetime. You’ll have more time and freedom to buy those experiences that your kids will remember forever.
So here’s the Why – so many great reasons to outsource. Who doesn’t want more time and to make more money and have less stress?
Down deep, I think you know that this is an important part of business growth, especially when you find yourself unable to manage the day-to-day. But we’ve only touched a little on the “what” can you outsource. And the answer will be different depending on where you are in your business. When you are just starting out, your needs are different than when you are at the 6 figure mark which will be different than the half-million-dollar mark.
But today I’m going to talk to those business owners who have been in business for a while, you are making a profit, you have a few systems in place, know who your target audience is, how you can help them, and your biggest problem is keeping up. For example, you do a webinar every quarter to launch your coaching program but you are busy coaching the last group, you are writing a book, and you have a conference to go to – having that virtual assistant take over the launch process would be a dream as well as ease your stress, probably make you money, and give you the time you need to get things done.
You may have thought, I didn’t know I could delegate that?
In fact, there are only a few things you cannot delegate:
The main one is your marketing strategy. You need to be in charge of your long-term goals and the measures you take to achieve them. It all needs to be thought out by you.
Relationship building also can’t be done by machines. With social media and other online marketing channels, it’s as important as ever to be real with your customers. Automated responses and replies are off-putting.
